Since March 2022, there has been a rapid increase in the number of cyberattacks on Russian Internet resources. Media news feeds report new incidents daily, and even the largest companies are losing confidential data. Roskomnadzor reported that in about a year, 60 major hacks occurred in the Russian segment of the Internet, with more than 230 million records of personal data of citizens leaked.
And quite recently, at the end of May 2023, a massive hack of websites was recorded. Websites on the 1C-Bitrix CMS were also affected. The hacking procedure consisted of three parts:
Uploading malicious code through existing site vulnerabilities.
Website defacement - replacing the main page of the website with calls for extremism.
Theft of users' personal data (from online stores).
The site was hacked: what to do?
Such hacks are fraught not only with the loss of business reputation, but also with fines from the state. V.V. Putin gave the shopify website design government the order to increase fines for leaking personal data of Russians.
In such a situation, reliable protection of business from threats of the digital world becomes a basic need.
This is especially true for small and medium-sized businesses, companies for which the website is the basis of profit and any loss of data or work stoppage can cause significant financial losses, and sometimes even business closure.
Check if you belong to a risk group (for owners of 1C-Bitrix websites):
The site has not been updated for more than two months: hackers exploit vulnerabilities in old versions
do not scan the site for viruses, do not use modules to protect against vulnerabilities
you have the "Polls, Voting"/"Vote" or "Visual Editor" module installed
your site contains elements with custom code
your site is not updated to the latest version of PHP 8.1 and above
You need to urgently contact programmers if you:
receive notifications from the proactive filter, web antivirus and Bitrix security scanner
you see a sharp increase in requests to the site, duplicate applications are coming in
found files with non-dictionary, randomly generated names: for example,
Unfortunately, simply restoring the site from a backup copy and updating Bitrix may not be enough, since attackers could have already installed bookmarks and Trojans at any time while using outdated 1C-Bitrix products.
The CREATIVE company has been an official partner of 1C-Bitrix since 2010, a gold partner since 2020. We recommend conducting:
comprehensive security audit of websites on 1C-Bitrix;
checking the site for viruses and Trojans, removing malware from the site;
installation of 1C-Bitrix updates and other site software;
Updating PHP to version 8 or later.
We strongly recommend that you pay special attention to this potential problem now and protect your site from possible hacking in the future.
Having problems with the site? We know how to help you.
